My Life Stories Inez Cossaboon

Story 21 of 38

What are your favorite memories of each of your children growing up?

Kenny

When we lived in Winnipeg, I had cups hanging on hooks. As a toddler, he would set them swinging….and chip.

When he was in his teens, we lived in Nova Scotia. He would take me shopping; Ross hated shopping. I liked the closeness we had.

David

In Ontario, we would go downtown with him in a stroller. He was such a pretty boy that people would stare and smile.

It wasn’t that he was pretty. He was grabbing leaves and eating them. Green drool came from the side of his mouth.

Another one is when we were heading to Calais and came across an accident.

David went right to work with First Aid. He held the injured man’s head and kept him conscious until paramedics came.

Years later, the man met David at Canadian Tire and thanked him for saving his life.

Kevin

Kevin always had to be clean. Always. One time, he fell on the way to meet David’s bus, and we had to go all the way home to clean his hands.

Another one was when he was little, he was on the soother. My friend, Suzie, told him he didn’t want that “dirty thing” and threw it out the window.

He never asked for a soother again!

Then there’s how he can’t carry a tune in a bucket.

Larry

When he was in the choir at St. George’s, he was part of three boys who sang We Three Kings.

He has a beautiful singing voice.

Larry made a lamb in Sunday School. He named it Fleecy. He was a shepherd in a play—I think.

Well, I washed Fleecy. It didn’t make it.

When he found out, he was brokenhearted, calling “My Fleecy! Oh, my Fleecy.” Now that I think about it, those might have been his lines.

Anyway, I have spent decades trying to replace that silly lamb!

Lori

I FINALLY got a girl! A change in laundry from the boys.

Lori decided she didn’t want a bottle anymore. We had to figure out how to give her formula in a cup.

When I would show off to aunts and visitors, I would ask her to say her name, phone number, address, and so on. She knew it by heart, and she was only a toddler.
