How did you meet your spouse? When did you know you wanted to marry them?

I met Ross through my sister, Eva.

Ross worked at New System Laundry with her. Eva liked a man named Roy, who was a friend of Ross’s. They came to the house. I think he liked Eva first, to be perfectly honest.

I was working at the orphanage at the time. Ross would have a friend to call and talk him up. I wasn’t interested, so I let my friend, Rosemond, take the calls.

Eventually, Ross called me. He was stationed in PEI at the time. I guess I finally gave in and saw him when he would come back on leave.

We were together for 5 years. He asked my mother for my ring size. His mother told him to get a smaller size. It didn’t fit.
