Story 19 of 38
What was your wedding like?
I had to travel to Winnipeg with Ross’s mother.
We got married on the base on December 18th, 1954. The church was decorated for Christmas, and we were in front of the manger.
My dress was a pink two-piece with black embellishments. I bought it at the Princess Shop in Saint John. Ross was in his uniform.
The minister asked people to stand up with us; we didn’t know them from a hole in the wall and never saw them again. Ross’s mother was there, too.
Afterward, the three of us went to a restaurant.
That night, we went to Ross’s friends Jack and Gayle’s. Jack was supposed to stand up for Ross, but a plane went down, so he couldn’t. It was actually Jack’s mother-in-law’s house. At one point, it got late, and we were asked to leave. Embarrassing!
